Pinan (Peaceful Mind)

Chandan Kumar

The greatest gift you can give yourself is a peaceful mind. Peace is not the highest goal in life. It is the most fundamental requirement. Inner peace begins the moment you choose not to allow another person or event to control your emotions. Just take a deep breath, listen to your heart. It feels like having a hug from the inside. When you stop searching, you will find what you need. Be like a tree and let the dead leaves drop.

Peace of mind will enable you to handle your life, your work and your relationships calmly, effectively and fearlessly. To find peace, sometimes you have to be willing to lose your communication with people, places and things that create all the noise in your life. Look at a tree, a flower, a plant, let your awareness rest upon it, how still they are, how deeply rooted in being. Allow nature to teach you stillness. Surrender to what is, let go of what was. Have faith in what will be. Peace cannot be kept by force. It can only be achieved by understanding.

Everyone wants a happy life and a peaceful mind, but we have to produce a peace of mind through our own practice. Mind is everything. What you think you become. Your mind is your instrument. Learn to be its master. When it hurts, learn to observe. Life is trying to teach you something. You have power over your mind, not outside events. Realize this, and you will find strength.
